Guided Tour - Hunter Wetlands Centre Distance 6km on flat trails A short but very interesting tour of the 45 ha community owned and operated Hunter Wetlands site at Shortland. The tour will include “behind the scenes” aspects not normally seen by the public as well as the opportunity to see the spectacular egret rookery at a time of peak activity. Many photo opportunities. Werekata NP Mt Tomalpin Distance: approx. 15 km with steep sections. Ascent ~200m Loop walk including Mt Tomalpin and some other tracks in the area. Spring will have wildflowers including ground orchids. Mt Tomalpin is steep with slippery slopes where bikes have used it on northern side, scrambling up bushy, relatively steep slope on southern side. Rest of walk on tracks and some forest road. As an extra feature of this trip a partial lunar eclipse will occur this evening. Sculptures by the Sea - Bondi -could be a half day or full day walk. This will be a more social walk starting at Bondi and viewing the sculptures along the coastal path to Tamarama. There will be four alternative endings (1) Finish at Tamarama and catch bus/train back to Central (2) Return back along the coastal path to Bondi and then bus/train to Central (3) Walk on the coastal path to Coogee and then bus/train to Central, a total of 6km. (4) Return back from Coogee to Bondi , a total of 12km. Walkers can make their decision once we arrive at Tamarama. Watagan State Forest - Warrawalong Road to Basin Campsite This walk is predominantly follows the GNW from Basin Campsite to Warrawalong Road but in the reverse direction to avoid some long climbs. Murramarang South Coast Walk, Grade 3, trails and beach and headlands, elevation 148m. It is located in the Murramarang National Park, North of Batemans Bay, near Durras Lakes.Murramarang South Coast Walk | NSW National Parks nationalparks.nsw.gov.au Murramarang South Coast Walk NSW (34km) australianhiker.com.au This is a new 34km coastal pack walk from Pretty Beach to Maloney’s Beach, spread over 3-4 days, 15/11/23 to 18/11/23. It is a fairly easy walk, reaching the overnight campsites in the early afternoon leaving time for a swim or explore. There will be a car shuffle required to return to cars. The entrance to Nth Durras Lake will need to be negotiated. It may be a sandy walk if it is closed or could require wading if it is open. See links above for more detail. Book: Phil and Ruth
