A diverse coastal walk from Big Rocky to Tomaree Head along undulating marked tracks with possibility of short sections of beach walking. Hopefully spring wildflowers will be in bloom. Meet at Tomaree No 1 oval car park Nelson Bay Road,second turn on left after Salamander Way roundabout & before Gan Gan Road. Car shuffle required at the start of walk. Peak Hill/Porto Ridge. Kuringai Chase NP. Starting at Hawkesbury River Stn following the GNW and turn off onto an overgrown track , climb to the top of Peak Hill, one of the highest peaks in the area. We then cross over onto Porto Ridge for more stunning views before descending back to the train. Steep climbs, rough track, 9klm, 350m asc. Patonga To Wondabyne  This is a long walk...20kms with a section passing through a more remote part of GNW in Brisbane Water National Park. Steep sections, creek crossings and wide views  on tracks and fire trails. Ascent 450m / descent 450m.

Sam (Newcastle Cycleways Movement, Australian Cyclist Party) will be presenting their CycleSafe Network initiative to us before presenting the same topic at the Australian Walking and Cycling Conference in Adelaide the following week.

Dudley-Redhead-East Bennetts Green Circuit. - starting & finishing at Dudley, the route includes Sth Dudley Bluff, some Awabakal, the WW2 Local Coastal Obs. HQ, some of the various wetlands of Crokers Creek, Fernleigh east and west side trails and Redhead/Awabakal lagoons. Short sections of off track/sand slogging. Distance about 15km. Ascent/descent: about 400m. MEET for 9am start at Reay Park, Cnr of Ocean & Tumut Sts Dudley. Morning Tea planned to be near Redhead Beach Kiosk. Maps: Swansea 9231-4N and Wallsend 9232-3S. Ferry Camp

Ku-ring-gai Chase NP. The Basin. Instead of a car camp let's do a ferry camp. Catch the ferry with your carry-on camping gear over from Booker Bay to Palm beach and then to the Basin, where we will then do day walks out on the Basin track, and perhaps around to Bonnie Doon. Bring your Backpacks and gear to setup camp and enjoy this camp ground. Will split the camping fee of $34 with the number of people and the ferry will cost $20 each. Berowra Walk, Turner Road. 10kms (~5hrs) , descent/ascent~150m, even gradients. Just offering another but different Berowra walk.

Short bus trip/street walk to the start, exploring the many ridge tracks on and off the GNW at the end of Turner Road. Great valley and water views. Mostly good tracks, rough and slippery at times. Bus back to station. Map : Cowan 9140-4n

Meet at Berowra Station. Catch the 7.30am Morriset train, changing at Woy Woy to arrive at  Berowra 8.53am. Hugh Hodge,

Great North Walk sections 10 and 11. Berowra -Berowra Waters - Cowan  Hard. Length 13 km, Ascent 900 metres, descent 900 metres, duration approx 6.5 hours. Train details - Morisset 7.32am, upstairs on second last carriage. Connect with train from Woy Woy, leaving 8.15am. Arrive Berowra 9.08am. Remember only last 4 carriages can be used to alight at Berowra. Ring or text leader to advise you are attending. We will be returning on either 15.40pm from Cowan to 18.13pm Morisset, or the 16.40pm from Cowan to 17.11 Morisset, depending on group speed. Due to long day and trains used, no afternoon tea after the walk. Bring plenty of water for the walk.  Brian Carter

Walk the coastal path from Bondi Beach to Tamarama to view the 2019 Sculptures. This maybe the last time the exhibition is held at this venue according to SxS website. Overnight Canoe paddle Map: Myall Lakes We will meet at Korsmans Landing as 1200 on the 3rd and have lunch there. After lunch we will do a car shuffle to Neraine and return back to Korsmans then do a small paddle to a campsite about 2km from Korsmans. The next day will be a long paddle (17Km) to Shellys Beach. The last day will be a shorter paddle (12Km) to Neraine where we will need to drive back to pick up the cars. There is no reliable water so you will need to carry water for the entire trip.

Hunter Lookout to Heaton Lookout via Maclean’s Lookout  Approx 8kms Ascent/descent 400m. This is a superb walk travelling along sections of GNW with views of the Hunter Valley. Outstanding rainforest and escarpment vegetation. While relatively short this full day walk is quite demanding and involves several steep sections. This walk commences in Apollo Bay and finishes at The 12 Apostles. Walkers will progress through the 100 km walk in 6 sections, using car shuttles and based throughout in Apollo Bay. The majority of the walk is Grade 3, Medium, and only day packs will be required.  Accommodation will need to be booked well in advance.

Ferry will cost $20.  (Must be back by the last ferry at 5pm Mackerel Beach else a long swim, so pace will be pretty quick). A lot of steps out and around the head and to the Red Ochre cave.
