Summerland Point to Gwandalan Circuit. Distance: 8 to 10km.

This is an easy and pleasant lakeside walk with lovely views, through some bushland and some street walking. Meet: 0930 Sandy beach reserve In Summerland Point.

Mt Warrawolong Circuit Distance: 8km Ascent: 641m 5 hours

The walk starts at the track head for the GNW on Murrays Forest road, followed by a steep bush track down to The Bar Trail, then a scrub bash up a lightly forested Mt Warrawolong. You will be able to climb up the fire tower for the stunning views. From there we use the access road to the tower to get down to Warrawolong road and follow it right up to Walkers Ridge road for our lunch break. Then it is a scrub bash up a hill to the Bar Communication Tower and along the road back to the vehicles. Meet 8.00am at the Shell Service Station end of Freemans Waterhole.

Taffy's Rock Distance approx. 15km with one decent hill

Catch the train from Morisset at 9am, get off at Cowan at 10.36 am. Walk down the Great North Walk to Jerusalem Bay then up the hill and at the top of the hill take the track out to Taffy's Rock. Meet on the 0900 train from Morisset

Milsons Point to Wolstonecraft (Sydney Urban Trails Series)

Distance: 11 km mainly on tracks. No significant ascents/descents.

This walk is a popular Sydney walk and includes Lavender Bay, McMahons Point, Waverton Park, Balls Head, Berry island and urban rainforest. Plenty of historical interest. Train from Morisset to Milsons Pt Map: Sydney UBD

We will start at Belmont, ride around picturesque Pelican and over the
channel to Caves Beach. From Caves Beach we will then ride around Swansea and cross the bridge again to Blacksmiths & the breakwall then back to Belmont.

Werekata NP Mt Tomalpin

Distance: approx. 15 km with steep sections

Loop walk including Mt Tomalpin and some other tracks in the area.  Late winter and spring will have wildflowers including ground orchids.  Mt Tomalpin steep with slippery slopes where bikes have used it on northern side, scrambling up bushy, relatively steep slope on southern side.  Rest of walk on tracks and some forest road.

Newcastle Coastal Geotrail (Southern Half)

Distance: approx. 10km

This will be the second half of the Geotrail started in June, looking at the coastline and its geological history and features. This will be a slowish walk with a number of interpretive stops along the way. Mainly on paths with some beach walking with a couple of stairways to ascend/descend.

Cherrybrook to Toongabbie  Distance: 15 to 17km.

Cherrybrook to Toongabbie via Cumberland state forest and Bidjigal Reserve. All on track with some street walking.

Meet at Morisset for the 7.30am train. Change at Epping to catch the metro to Cherrybrook. Then we'll walk to the Cumberland state forest and on to Bidjigal Reserve to Toongabbie train station, exploring a diverse mixture of bush trails, reserves and streets along the way.

Bulga Creek - Yengo National Park off the Putty Road.

The walk involves a 100-metre climb to the top of the ridge system and then about 2 km ridge walk before dropping into Bulga Creek. The walk out will involve climbing over a ridge back to the Putty Road.

Speers Point To Newcastle Return Cycle  53 km  Map:  Newcastle Street Directory. Ride from Speers Point to new cycleway through Argenton to the Tramway track & Wallsend.  Then new cycleway/pedestrian bridge at Jesmond Park on to the University & Waratah.  Then the TAFE, Throsby Creek cycleway to optional lunch at Queens Wharf.  Return Throsby Creek, Marathon Stadium, Lambton Park to Jesmond & the Tramway track back to Speers Point.  Option to catch train back at Newcastle Interchange, or Broadmeadow, to Cockle Creek Station if desired.

Watagan State Forest - Warrawalong Road to Basin Campsite

Distance: 13.5km Ascent: 430m Descent: approx. 750m Maps: Murrays Run, Morisset.

This walk is predominantly follows the GNW from Basin Campsite to Warrawalong Road but in the reverse direction to avoid some long climbs. It passing through some outstanding sections of the Watagans. Involves some steep sections and possible off track walking as well as a 20km car shuffle.

Spring Gully, Riverside, and then across the range to another section of the river. Day 2 we will walk upstream to Thompsons Flat and Camp. We will then spend the rest of the day exploring upstream and checking out some interesting ruins and abandoned cave dwellings. Day three walk back to Spring Gully via Thompsons Track. Distance approx 11km with an ascent/descent of 200 m Part of the Great North Walk, it passes through a variety of landscapes, with a mix of creek walking, ridges and slopes. There are a number of small ups and downs to contend with.  We will use the train to travel to and from this walk.

Three day packwalk along the South Coast from Boyd Tower to Green Cape Lighthouse, camping overnight at Saltwater Creek and Bittangabee Bay. 31 km, ascent 794 m (Check Wildwalks site for further information).

Budawangs, Morton National Park  Four Days Approx 35 Kms (12 Kms packwalking)

Some of the best walking in the Budawangs taking in The Castle, Nibelung Pass, Monolith Valley, Mt Owen, Seven Gods Pinnacles, Green Room. The walk involves a 6 kilometre arduous uphill packwalk into Cooyoyo Creek campsite, 2 days of day walks and 6 km packwalk out on day four. Map references: NSW Topo 8927-3N Corang

This ride will follow shared pathways and mostly quiet roads around the Port Stephens waterline from Fingal Beach to Soldiers Point. There will be a diversion to Barry Park for whale spotting. Lunch at a local club. Spectacular water views throughout the ride.

Brisbane Water NP - Elephant Rock Distance: approx. 16km. Map: Broken Bay

This is a varied walk in the Brisbane Water NP. There should be a good display of wildflowers, including waratahs. The walk will visit the interesting rocky outcrop of Elephant Rock before continuing down to Green Point via the Arboretum at Pearl Beach and returning via the historic Postman's Track.
