Lambton/Jesmond Pk/Blackbutt/McGregor Park & return

Approx 15km.Total height gain ~ 300m. Map: Wallsend 9232-3s

This walk takes in extensive old growth and regenerated bushland, including a sampling of most of the proposed inner city by-pass missing link. It also passes several 19th/early 20th century coal mining sites, railways and tramway routes-including Lambton Colliery pit head & scattered shafts and Glen Lewis/Nellie's Glen. Also included are the sites of an early to mid 20th century shanty town and 2-up school. A few sections of near level or downhill off-track creek/gully walking.

Meet for 9am start @ Lambton Park near Cnr Howe & Morehead St Lambton, opposite Lambton Park Hotel. Note: some surrounding street parking is restricted.

A lovely, mostly shaded walk to some surprisingly unknown beauty spots.

Meet at the car park next to the roundabout at the junction of Nelson Bay Road and Port Stephens Drive. 12 Km.

Slippery Rock Road.

Walk up old bullock track on Slippery Rock Rd to Boarding House Dam, circuit walk to see the lovely Moss Wall and return. Could be some good fungi out. All on track 16kms. 310m ascent. Maps Morisset and Quorrobolong. Meet Morisset 8.30am.

Abbott’s Falls Circuit - Olney State Forest

Distance: 9.5 km Ascent/Descent: 300m Map: Morisset 9131 - In

This classic WW walk through generally well-shaded forest features a visit to the beautiful Abbott’s Falls. Not a long walk but involves sufficient exertion to earn an expected early afternoon tea.

Meet Morisset 9.00am, drive along Mandalong Rd to end of bitumen, turn right into Yambo Forest Rd (with care- blind corner!!), park 100m up YF Rd. Walk up ridge line to remnants of old fire observation tower on Broken Back Ridge. Return via Lemon Tree Rd and Lemon Tree Link Rd. 14 km, ~450 m ascent. Map: Quorrobolong.
